The YewWood Forest Retreat Center is a 15 acre sacred nature sanctuary between Eugene, OR and the coast, surrounded by national forest and in the proximity of old growth, filled with devas and magick, with a Salmon spawning creek running through it. It is a safe playground for serious growthwork and spirit communion. It has been a functioning off the grid, organic homestead in deep cooperation with nature and spirit for over 20 years.
Aerious the organization is based at YewWood. We practice, teach, and promote permaculture and spirit communion and use solar power and other alternative energy resources. We offer services, classes and apprenticeships in Astrology, Reiki, Yoga, Flower Essences, Whole Foods, Holistic Healing, Exodus, Herbs, Herb Walks, Organic Gardening, Shiatsu, Ki Development, basic Chinese Medicine, Meridians and Five Element Theory. Our annual Earth and Sky Creation Festival features Firewalking and earth-spirit based ritual. Some of the communities it is affiliated with are the fairy-human relations congress, the NW herbal faire, Oregon Country Fair, and WWOOF.
Shrines on the land strengthen its vortexes of nature power. The Great God Pan and sacred nymphs, Qwan Yin, bodhisattva of compassion, Hekatai, Goddess of death and rebirth and cycles, the faeries, and the elements are all given special attention here, and thus their voices are strong on the land, offering guidance and playfullness.
Work-trade visits and apprenticeships can be arranged, and many special events are offered in the summer months. It is a great homesteadin' and nature communin' weekend escape from Portland or Eugene!
Deadwood, OR is a great town in the rainforest of the Coastal range. Many back-to-the-landers moved there in the seventies, and a great community remains of strong, progressive country folk. Many locals gather for weekly drum circles. Alpha Farm, an intentional community/organic farm that draws in travellers and farmers from all over, is located two miles down the road. Other inspiring DIY people speckle the area, and a stay at YewWood can also offer opportunities to connect with other local self-sufficient types, and a chance to be exposed to a countryside "town" without many conservative mainstream values.
Just so you know, we may be slow to answer phone and email inquiries, but we'll get to 'em eventually... We're on country time.
